Having your senior pictures professionally photographed is possibly a very appealing idea. However, once you start trying on clothes and getting ready to meet your photographer, that’s when all the butterflies in your belly can begin to flutter.
To help keep those nerves at bay, try these senior photo poses to not only get inspiration, but also an idea on how to look natural and stay engaged throughout the photoshoot.
6 Senior Photo Poses
You may not be Cara Delevingne. (Unless you in fact ARE Cara Delevingne reading this and needing a photographer … in which case you should contact me ASAP).
But, if you aren’t Cara Delevingne (as I presume), keep in mind that you don’t need to pose like a supermodel. You only need to pose like a high school student about to graduate. Yay! These six senior photo poses are perfect for helping you do just that AND have some fun along the way.
1. Blow Confetti
A closeup shot of you blowing confetti can be quite magical. Not only that, but this pose idea is very lively and perfectly showcases your fun and lighthearted side. Because of the closeup nature of the shot using different color confetti will be ideal, as all the colors will make the picture more vibrant.
2. Lay Down
Besides sitting, taking your senior pictures while laying down is probably one of the easiest ways to get yourself to relax and take more natural pictures. Laying on lovely green grass can be the base to create several subtle and beautiful poses.
3. Twirl
This extremely girly posing idea will capture your quirky side. It works best when you’ve got on a flowy skirt or dress, as the clothing will emphasize the movement. It’s also something you can easily do if you’re feeling anxious or nervous to forget about those butterflies and just twirl. Yes, HAVE FUN! Some of the best pictures can come when you’re just being yourself.
4. Lean
Sometimes the best senior photo poses are the simple ones. While you don’t have to lean against a wall, you could always lean against a tree, a car or even a friend. These poses also have the option to be taken in a more masculine and rugged tone, or a cheerful and playful manner.
5. Celebrate
Why not show that you’re excited about this phase in your life by celebrating? But how do you celebrate in a picture? You could either raise your arms and tilt your head upwards or do the classic jump, while your arms are raised. These can photograph really well, especially if you’re the playful type.
6. Rely on Your Friends
These can include dear friends AND some friends you’re not yet thinking of ... including animals like your doggie or horsey.
This may be just what you need to relax and warm show off more of your personality in your pictures. Stroking their fur and playing with your furry face friend is easy and will probably make you so happy that getting a picture of you naturally smiling won’t be that difficult.
With the help of some go-to senior photo poses in your arsenal, you’ll find taking pictures on the day is a lot easier. But, what’s going to help more than anything is finding the right photographer.
