Part of growing up is challenging yourself to do something different. 

What's more, having these challenges can help you discover hidden talents, hobbies and could even help you step into your true calling. Maybe that's taking it too far... but, whether these challenges help you conquer lifelong fears or just help you create lifelong memories, they're a great addition to include when you're getting senioritis.

1. Make A Music Video

Whether you like to play an instrument, sing, or even lip-sync, it can be a fun way to pass the time. You could even create a parody of one of your favorite songs (think "Weird Al" Yankovic). But what if you take your obsession one step further and write a song and then turn that song into a music video. That would be fun!

2. Start A Garden

If you think gardening is easy why not try starting one. Plants - like people - need care, attention, and love to survive - and of course sunlight, oxygen, and water as well! You’ll need to get a delicate mix of all three if you want your garden to survive. So, if you're feeling especially adventurous and have some space, try starting a garden. And remember ... succulents don't count.

3. Create & Sell Your Crafts

Etsy and even local markets make it relatively easy to sell your crafts. They're also brimming with ideas of what crafts you can make. This can be profitable and teach you the very basics about what starting an actual business is like. Let your entrepreneurial side take flight!

4. Start A YouTube Channel

YouTube has become a career to some. Yes, you too can now be a YouTuber. Even if this isn’t your full time calling, think of it like being about trying something new or outside your comfort zone. You get to push yourself forward and see what you can do. You can also do it for the sake of making memories and finding your favorite things to teach about and share. Maybe YouTube is your thing, maybe it isn't, but if you don't try you won't know for sure.

5. Start A Side Hustle

Side hustles can be great for bringing in cash that can help you make more senior year memories or put in savings to help with other goals. Side hustles are known to bring in cash like drop shipping or flipping items can be relatively easy to get started with. But they can also help you monetize things you're interested in. For example, you could monetize your love of coins by trying to buy and sell coins. Just remember, most side hustles will require that you have some capital. This challenge can pare will with the YouTube or craft ideas.

6. Do A Senior Photoshoot

This. Is. FUN!!!! 

You get to step out of your comfort zone and let loose for a bit. This is where you get to let your personality shine and get great pictures to remember this milestone by. A photoshoot can be seen as a rite-of-passage for some as it can be the perfect way to commemorate your senior year. 

Just like having a side hustle can bring out the entrepreneurial side in you, a photo shoot for your senior pictures can be a great way to bring out the creative side of you. This challenge can be just as fruitful. Plus, you will then have some great pics to share with your friends and family. However, this challenge may require that you step out of your comfort zone to think of ways to foster your creativity and ingenuity, all while creating lifelong memories. This challenge is easy and fun to try.

7. Do A 30 Day Picture Challenge

Speaking of pictures, maybe you want to try being the photographer. A 30-day picture challenge is a great way to challenge yourself to improve on your skills. Don’t take a bunch of random pictures for Instagram, but instead, try taking intentional photographs that convey a story or an idea. 

Just think of a theme for the day (like anything green, something with straight lines, or the perfect light), and then go find the most impeccable picture to take of that idea. Doing this with a photog buddy make it even more fun. 

What you try is up to you. Stick to ideas that bring you joy, may push you out of your comfort zone, and will help you grow your kills. You should try stuff you enjoy or are curious about … instead of making it into a project, think of it as a different form of expression.
