Do you even remember when phones didn’t have selfie cameras? You had to guess how to pose and were clueless about how you look. But now that every phone has a selfie camera, you're taking more selfies, and wondering in the process, how to take a flattering selfie. Why don't you look as good in your selfies as you do in the mirror? You can look good in both with these tips.
1. Good Lighting is Quintessential
What’s the lighting you’re using like? If you’re taking a selfie in the fluorescent lights in your room, likely, you’re not going to look your best. That light is NOT flattering. For a more flattering selfie take it a time when the sun isn’t blaring in your face or in a nice shaded area that has plenty of natural light.
2. Keep The Camera Away From Your Face
Selfies don’t look good from up close. If you think about it, how often is anyone right in your face? Think of the camera the same way you would think of another human being looking at you. How far away do you think is okay?
The answer usually is at arm's length. That’s also usually the most flattering distance.
3. Bring Your Chin Down
It’s been said that you shouldn’t take a selfie from a downward angle, but so many girls and guys on Instagram have been dispelling that notion with their impeccable looks at all angles. So, the trick to remember regardless of the type of selfie you’re taking is to bring your chin down toward your neck. If you’re concerned about a double-chin first stretch out your neck and roll your shoulders back, then bring your chin down, and lastly clench your teeth to give your jaw a more chiseled appearance.
4. Set A Self-Timer
If you don’t want blurry selfies or selfies that don’t always capture you in the best light because you’ve got to take the picture while having your body angled in a selfie-friendly pose, set a self-timer. You can put the volume up on your phone so you know when the picture is going to be taken and you’re ready when that’s going to happen.
