Your high school senior year is full of new adventures, and picking out your senior photoshoot outfit(s) is one of them. Some of you might know precisely what you want to wear (because you've been planning your senior photo session since you started high school), and some of you might not have given it much thought before now.
This is one of the moments that you want to get right because it is all about you and the graduation milestone that you are about to accomplish. You are looking to celebrate your individuality, your growth, your triumphs … and it's up to me to capture it all in pictures.
Today we will go through some outfit ideas for your senior session, so when you look back at your pictures, all you think is, I nailed it.
· First Outfit – Romantic Sundress
I can't even explain how great a sundress looks in pictures. The beautiful patterns, flowy fabric, and great swish or twirl movement that you can get is stunning!! It can all be captured so beautifully in camera.
If it's a long flowy dress, you can spin and whirl the beautiful fabric it around. The movement of the dress will translate REALLY well in the pictures.
On the other hand, if you have a tight midi dress, it is harder to move and pose with the same romantic feel in the images. I would always opt for the flowy sundress every time!
And since it's summer, it's up to you to decide the fabric colors. Beautiful and natural colors do wonders in the right setting.
If you have worked with me before, you know that I think solid colors are better than a patten in your clothes. However, if it is a gorgeous sundress that hits all of the right heart strings, then I think this is a perfect exception and wearing a patterned sundress is perfectly fine.
· Second Outfit – Something with Pockets
I love pockets!!! They are phenomenal to pose with for both guys and gals.
Just make sure that your jeans or shorts are not too tight or too short. Remember, you will be moving and posing, so you don't want clothes that are too restrictive.
· Third Outfit Ideas
– Future You
Know where you are going to college? Let's get some pictures of you in your university's t-shirt.
Know what you want to be when you grow up? Let's get get some images of you in scrubs and wearing a stethoscope.
Whatever your next chapter is, let's celebrate it!
– Rompers
Nothing says 'summer season' more than rompers ... well, other than sundresses, but we covered that.
You can add different textures through the fabric. A soft velvet romper will change the whole look.
Nowadays, a fusion of skirt/romper bottoms are in fashion, and they can give an asymmetrical and unique look. For most images, a solid color romper can do wonders. Let yourself be the statement piece, not your clothes.
– Flare pants
You know what they say, history always repeats itself, and this time I'm not complaining.
Flare pants are making a comeback, and they are better than ever. The best thing about them is that you can pair them with tights as well as loose tops.
Pair your flare pants with a colored printed tank top and a bucket hat for a trendy and vintage look. OR if you want something nicer, you can pair it with a classic button-down or even a blazer for a 'girl boss vibe.
I'm getting chills just even thinking about it. Again, the possibilities are endless, and you can dress flare pants any way you want so they can fit your aesthetic.
– Make Up Your Own Look.
I know many girls think a lot about their senior pictures and what they are looking for. In all the years I've been doing professional senior photography; there isn't one specific style that works on everyone.
Some ladies go all out and love looking very put together, others like to keep it lowkey and natural … and both looks are amazing.
So do what YOU want to do? Add your personal touch. Be you. You’ll love looking back on these images more if they represent more of the authentic you.
The best thing you can wear is confidence. All you need to do is look and feel confident and leave it up to me to work my photo magic, like your own personal fairy Godmother photographer.
