Posing for a photo is not always easy. If you do not know the rules on how to pose, it is much harder to capture a decent picture of yourself for Instagram or Facebook.
Want to learn how to pose better for pictures? I have prepared a few tips just for you.
Here are 5 tips that will help you pose with more confidence. Even models have to learn how to pose before they start making a name of their own. Consider the following tips next time you are standing in front of the camera.
1. Avoid Standing Still for Longer than a Second
If there is one tip that will ensure that you know how to pose for a photo, it is constantly moving your body to ensure that you do not look like a statue. Even something as simple as tilting your head to the right or left will make you appear fresh and authentic. There is a lot that you can do to avoid standing still, here are a few: sway just a little, walk, change the positioning of your arms and hands, or change your facial expression.
2. Say “Happy” Rather Than “Cheese”
When we take pictures, it is easy to show too much of our teeth. If you have a tendency to over smile like many people, you should consider saying “happy” rather than “cheese”.
This helps make sure that you do not take cringe-worthy pictures with too big of a smile. Smiling too much can make you seem fake and unnatural in your images. When you say that you are happy, you get to take control over how you look and become more authentic.
3. Lean Forward Slightly
This is such a helpful tip! To pose your best for the camera, simply lean forward ever-so-slightly from your waist. It allows your beautiful face to be the main focal point of the image. Leaning forward can also disguise your midsection – yay!
It is common for people to stand tall and straight and end up looking like a frozen statue. By leaning forward slightly, you also get to look more natural.
4. Do Something with Your Hands
There is a lot that you can communicate with your hands, so put them to good use. Whether it is grasping a coffee cup, tucking your hair behind your ear, or putting your arm around someone, doing something with your hands can help you from looking awkward.
5. Only Think Happy Thoughts
Lastly, you only need to think happy thoughts if you want to look great in front of the camera. Rather than just smiling, you can try to express happiness through your eyes and how you feel. Try it, it’s fun!
Let your happiness shine through your entire body, try to experience true joy, and capture it for others to see. Think happy thoughts and take the best pictures.
