Winston Salem is one of the oldest cities in the United States. Fun fact: it is where German used to be first spoken. 

It is common to think about Wake Forest University, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Salem College, or Winston Salem State University when you talk about higher learning in Winston Salem. All of which offer beautiful campuses that are just perfect for your college senior photoshoot. 

However, there is a lot more the city has to offer. If you are a high school or college senior on the lookout for other great locations for a photoshoot in Winston Salem, think about looking at the following places.

1. Grace Court & West End Historic District

One of my favorite spots for taking pictures is the Grace Court and the West End Historic District. They never cease to amaze me. 

Grace Court is one of the most scenic little parks you will ever find. Perfect for a quaint senior photoshoot with a bit of whimsy and romance.

Take pictures in the West End Historic District and learn more about the history of Winston Salem at this amazing location. The buildings date back to the 1800s and have been preserved rather well. 

You can walk past amazing historical buildings such as the Poindexter House. The area stretches more than 230 acres and offers gorgeous architecture for your pictures (I don’t suggest that you tackle all of this in one day).

2. Bailey Power Plant & Black Mountain Chocolate Factory

Perfect for urban photoshoots! Bailey Power Plant is a renovated R.J. R. power plant that offers unique backdrops for your photoshoot such as train tracks, trussells, and industrial walls. 

It is also a great place for family fun as they have added great restaurants to enjoy! 

Are you a fan of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Then, you need to head over to the Black Mountain Chocolate Factory. There is no better place to see a real-life chocolate factory. Everyone is welcome at the chocolate factory for a self-guided tour. I want it NOW!

3. Old Salem Museums and Gardens

The Old Salem Museums and Gardens are a community-run project. The location was restored during the 1950s by local volunteers. It is the perfect spot for your senior photos. Enjoy the very best that the city has to offer at this prime historical location. It will not disappoint. 

4. Historic Bethabara Park

The Historic Bethabara Park is where the Moravians settled more than 250 years ago. It offers historic beauty unlike any other. You will feel like you have been transported to a quaint village in Europe when you visit this part of the city.

It is also home to beautiful indigenous species of birds. Go on a hiking trail or check out the flower gardens and capture stunning pictures. 

5. Truist Field

Truist Field is also a great location for senior photos. If you are a huge fan of the Wake Forest Deacon Demons, and love their football team, you cannot skip this part of the city. The venue can hold up to 30,000 visitors and is housed at none other than Wake Forest University. You might even catch the team in action on your visit. The atmosphere is perfect for a photoshoot. All you have to do is wear a sports jersey and invite your friends.

6. Truist Stadium

Likewise, if you love America’s favorite pastime, then Truist Stadium can also be a fun place for a senior photoshoot. Home of the Winston Salem Dash and the Carolina Disco Turkeys, it offers a manicured field for a great backdrop. If you are feeling young-at-heart, there is a fantastic carousel that is divine for whimsical images.
