Regarding senior pictures, there are always new and innovative styling ideas and new trends are constantly surging through the roof. Traditionally, there are also some senior year picture trends which have been here for quite some time and are classic for a reason. 

With that said, some trends feel nostalgic and others feel playful, but it’s the vibes they give which draw people toward wanting to do them at their senior photoshoot. For finding the most perfect idea or trend for yourself, you may want to play around on Pinterest and as much as you can before the photoshoot. After you have a good idea of what you are looking for, share these ideas with your photographer so you can get some amazing ideas incorporated in your photographs.

Here I am going to talk about a few upcoming trends which will still be pretty much on the top in 2022. 

Black Boards. If we look at senior pictures from the past few years, we will see how this has become a popular trend.  You hold up a board with some sort of slogan, class year, degree, sorority, or anything cute on it. The graduation year can be written as ‘Class of 2022’ or ‘c/o 22’. These are custom made and you can literally add anything on that board that will make your picture stand out and express your personality. 

Smoke Bomb. The trend of using colored smoke we see nowadays in every picture is here to stay. With so many colors, sizes, and styles a smoke bomb offer so many options. Hence, this trend can be custom-adjusted to the colors of your high school or college. Using a smoke bomb comes with the added pressure of doing it quickly, otherwise the smoke will dissipate. Plan the shot before you start the effect and you will be happy. 

Football Stadium.  This is a trend which is starting to become more popular. Just the feeling you get with such a wide, unobstructed view when sitting in an empty sports stadium is immaculate. It is like you own the place! When you have such a huge space to yourself, you can use a lot of creative photo angles that would otherwise be near impossible. Sometimes you may even be allowed to use the field itself! A picture on the 50-yard line is special indeed!

Group Photos. The memories you made with your friends in high school or college are a part of what you will cherish forever about this chapter in your life. Getting your crew involved in your senior pictures is a trend to continue in 2022 for sure. Think of a creative and special venue to use to show off some of the adventures you have had with this group over the years.

Cap & Gown. If you have your school’s cap and gown, or if can borrow one from an upper classman should it still be early in the school year for you, then you can incorporate that look into your pictures. Sometimes you can even get a tassel with the correct graduation year and school colors from Amazon or Etsy. These are classic shots that you will not want to miss.
