When you dream of your senior / graduation photoshoot experience, what do you envision? You want your expectations met with this once in a lifetime experience. That’s why it’s a good idea to think of ways to level-up your experience. To help you do that, I’ve listed three of the areas I’ve found to have the biggest impact on the result of your photoshoot.
1. Collaborate With a Photographer That Gets You
There’s no easier way to feel relaxed than to work with a photographer that reduces your anxieties and fears.
As an experienced portrait photographer, I try to make you feel prepared before the photoshoot even begins by sharing my best tips and tricks to get you photo ready. I also help you feel confident and relaxed in front of my camera by getting to know you, coaching you in natural posing, and maybe even cracking a silly joke to make you smile. I love to build rapport and help you feel relaxed around me, so you can let loose and your true beauty can shine through.
2. Choose A Picturesque Location
Studio senior portraits are a tad bit outdated. Now it’s all about natural light and locations! Something I specialize in. But when you’re doing a location photoshoot, you need to choose the right location as that will affect how comfortable you feel and the overall composition of your photographs.
Your ideal location should:
A. Have More Than One Picturesque Backdrop
Ideally, you want to choose a venue that can provide many different kinds of backdrop options, making your senior pictures more dynamic.
B. Have Standout Elements You Appreciate
Your ideal location should have elements in it that you are excited to capture, whether that’s a flower bed, bridge, or graffitied wall.
C. Make Posing Easier
Your surroundings can have an impact on how you pose. They can make your poses appear layered and more natural, in a way that seems as though they’re telling a story.
3. Plan Ahead
The easiest way to ensure an easy-breezy photoshoot is to plan. Knowing what to do in the weeks before – and on the day of – your photoshoot will guarantee the entire event is a pleasant experience and memorable for all the right reasons.
You can start by preparing your outfits and props in the week before your photoshoot and ensuring you’re hydrated to give your skin a natural glow.
