The short answer is … it depends, but usually, yes. It depends on your school and what they are looking for on the Senior Pages. A lot of schools are now asking families to provide images that have been taken outside in natural light to be submitted for publication on the Senior Page. Find out the exact yearbook parameters that you school is looking for and communicate those instructions to your portrait photographer so they can make sure to get that perfect shot for you.  

Also, many parents want to create a Congratulations Page for the high school annual dedicated to their senior as a way to commemorate all that they have accomplished so far. This usually includes pictures from when they were a baby all the way to senior year. It is a great way to highlight your teenager’s endeavors. You will need some great senior pictures for this project. 

You will want to reach out to your school and find out when all of the deadlines are for the high school yearbook. These deadlines are usually in in the fall, so that doesn’t leave a lot of extra time to work in a photoshoot once the school year starts and schedules become very busy. 

••• My advice? Do yourself a favor and plan ahead. Have your senior’s photoshoot planned during the summer months between junior and senior year. Family’s schedules are usually A LOT calmer during this time, and then you will be happy and ahead of the curve once the school year starts. Yay!
