Autumn makes for a great time to take photos in natural light outdoors. It is my favorite time of the year for a senior and graduation photoshoot. The pictures always turn out gorgeous when the weather is perfect and the fall colors are popping. Nothing is like being outside in the fresh air this time of the year and the colorful leaves only add to the stunning background. What’s not to love?
Here are some of my favorite fall photoshoot ideas. Have fun!
1. Playing with the Leaves
Let your inner child come to life and get your friends involved. The more people there are the more fun it is. Take senior year fall pictures in your backyard or visit the nearest park. Toss the colorful leaves in the air for some cute images or even hold one up to your eye for more of a dramatic look.
2. Have Fun at the Farm
When fall arrives, I love visiting any farm for a photoshoot and some amazing pictures. The harvest vibe, barn décor, or fields of fall sunflowers offer so many backgrounds to work with. Organize a fall photoshoot at your local farm. Snuggling with the available animals will contribute to the perfect senior photo aesthetic. Besides, it is the perfect occasion to wear your cowboy boots.
3. Use Pumpkins
Hands-down, pumpkins are the mascot of fall. I find pumpkins to be the ideal prop during a fall photoshoot because they add such a great pop of color. Hold a pumpkin, display them around a haybale with some mum blossoms, or even hold a small one out to the lens for your photoshoot. Pumpkins also work great in the background. You cannot go wrong with them.
4. Apple Picking
Apples are perfect for fall pictures. If you enjoy apple picking, the orchard can offer a great background for your high school images and some really cute pictures. Spice up your Instagram and social media with pictures of your apple picking adventure.
5. Hit the Woods
Halloween is right around the corner, and a few spooky images around the woods may be just what you are looking for in your social media. Find an old, knotted looking tree and peer out from behind it. If you can, add a smoke machine for a foggy night effect. Try going around the end of the day or around twilight for some spooky photography.
Fall is a creative time for outdoor high school senior and graduation images. Make the most of this special time of the year and plan to get some portraits made.
